our historyOur farm, Falkenvil Farm was established over fifty years ago by Freddy Knight who purchased an initial 12 acres of land in Hailsham, and together with wife Judith started growing crops of cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and mushrooms.
1995In 1995 the running of the farm passed to Freddy’s 3 children, Roland, Jane and Keith. It was at this time that Jane and Roland (Roly) established J R Wholesale to facilitate the sale of produce grown on the farm directly to catering establishments in the local area.
This venture proved very successful, and in response to customer demand for a wider range of products, we extended our product base to include a full range of fruit and vegetables. |

Roly and Keith continue to devote their time to J R Wholesale, with Roly as General Manager and Keith as Farm Manager.
We currently offer some 430 product lines to our customers.
Also in response to customer demand, we developed a food preparation service, and are now able to provide a full range of peeled, diced or sliced vegetables. All vegetables are prepared on the day of dispatch, and are either vacuum packed or gas flushed to guarantee freshness. This service has proved so successful that the food preparation facilities have recently been extended to meet current and future customer requirements.
As a family owned and managed business, we can keep our overheads low and ensure our prices are very competitive. The family's farming pedigree and expertise ensures that only the finest products are sold through our wholesale business.
Wherever possible, produce not grown on the farm, is sourced from local suppliers to maintain our commitment to quality, freshness and a sustainable low carbon footprint.
